Nuno joined DTA in June 2015 and is the Lead Associate for the firm’s public contracts, administrative law, PPPs, arbitration, commercial and civil litigation practices.
Nuno Marrazes has been distinguished by Chambers & Partners as an “Associate to Watch” for the Timor-Leste market, regarded as “well reputed for assisting with commercial disputes and arbitration”. Among other achievements, Nuno was appointed by the State of Timor-Leste as its expert witness in investment arbitration proceedings under the auspices of the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (“ICSID”).
Nuno’s widespread public sector work includes advising international agencies and multinationals on port infrastructure, solid waste management, renewable energies, fibreoptic cable and carbon sequestration projects.
Prior to joining DTA, Nuno worked at leading Portuguese law firm Campos Ferreira, Sá Carneiro & Associados (CFSC), principally as a member of the litigation department. At CFSC he specialised in judicial proceedings such as enforcement, corporate rescue and insolvencies, and also gained experience in carrying out legal due diligences in different areas, such as renewable energies and real estate. Before that, Nuno worked at Abalada Matos, Lorena de Sèves & Associados, a renowned boutique public law firm, where his practice was focused on public law, especially in town and regional planning, public procurement, environment and waste management, and administrative offences.
Nuno holds a Law Degree (Licenciatura pre-Bologna) and a Post Graduate Degree in Public Procurement Law, both from the University of Lisbon.
Nuno speaks Portuguese, English, Italian, Spanish, and Tetum.
